Thanks for your questions. I am not aware of any statistics that discuss how many universities give a preference to legacy admissions. It tends to be much more prevalent among private colleges than public. 

As to the question of who is considered a legacy, the answer differs from college to college. All colleges that I am aware of will consider parents for legacy determinations and most, if not all, will also consider siblings. Some will consider direct linage, i.e. grandparents while others will consider anyone to whom you are related. This is the type of question that needs to be asked of any college to which you may be able to claim a legacy.</description>
