Anne,

There is no one particular program for a person who wishes to become a college admissions counselor. Some people start working for a college in the admissions department, some work as counselors at the high school level and others, come from various backgrounds.

Most high school counselors get a degree in counseling and most programs do not have any component that involves college counseling. Some programs are starting to offer classes in college counseling. I don't have a list of those graduate programs but you can probably find most through an internet search.

Thank you for the mention! I'm hoping eventually to grow the Carnival of College Admissions into something more widely recognized. It's still small but growing fast, and it's exciting to be a part of it. Don't forget to submit an article each week!
