College Admissions Counseling Information for Parents

You want the best for your child. Particularly when your child is making the important decision as to which college to attend. And when you consider that a college education is the second most expensive purchase most people will make, finding the best college for your child is especially important. But how do you decide which college is best for your child?

Many people rely on high school counselors to help them with this important decision. Unfortunately, in the United States, the average high school counselor has 315 students to advise. Because of this heavy workload, very few of these over worked counselors have the time to help each of the many students they must work with everyday.

One way to help your child find the best college is to work with College Admission Partners. We partner with you and your child to provide personalized advice on how to find the best college for your child. In helping your child find the best college we evaluate their educational, personal and extracurricular background. We talk to you and your child without preconceived ideas of what the best college might be. We listen to what your child wants from their college experience. We then help your child find colleges that fit their needs best. Once your child has decided where to apply for college, we work with them to prepare an application that best show their interests and talents.

Some college admissions counselors focus their search on the “big name” colleges. We don’t prejudge you or your child. We recommend colleges based on what your family wants from a college and on which colleges can satisfy your needs. If a “big name” college is best for your child then we will make that recommendation. But we may also recommend a college you have never heard of before. We do this to make sure you find the best college for your child. We believe that fit is more important for a student than the name of the college they attend. What about the "ranking" of the college? Here is our view of rankings of colleges as well as links to some common college ranking sites.
