Hi, I’m Todd Johnson and I am responsible for all college admissions counseling for College Admissions Partners. I attended Northwestern University and St. Olaf College for my undergraduate work and subsequently graduated from the law school at Washington University in St. Louis. While in law school I was the Executive Editor of the Washington University Law Review. I practiced law for 20 years as a trial lawyer in Minnesota before starting College Admissions Partners.
I have always had a personal interest in college admissions and was often frustrated watching students choose a college without understanding whether the college was a match for that student. I also learned in talking to parents that they did not understand the basics of college financial aid and as a result were often spending more money to send their children to college than necessary.
Because of my interest in helping students, I began providing college admissions counseling to help students and their families find the best college for each student. For more than 15 years I have helped students and their families identify their ideal colleges. During that time I have visited and evaluated over 300 colleges and medical schools throughout the United States. For the past 10 years our focus has been on helping students applying to BS/MD programs or traditional medical schools.
With my years of experience as a trial lawyer I know how to listen to the families I work with to identify those issues that are important for each student and to find colleges that meet those needs.
Although I regularly work with students who have gained admission to Ivy League Universities and highly selective colleges, my focus is not on finding the highest rated college for my students.
I do not believe that the best college is the highest ranked or the college that has the lowest admission rate. Rather it means the college that is the best fit for the needs of that particular student. Sometimes that means looking at some of the most selective colleges in the country while making sure that at least one safety that is a good fit is also considered. Sometimes it means looking at less selective colleges where a student is more likely to thrive and enjoy their college experience.
I am the author of the book “BS/MD Programs-The Complete Guide:Getting into Medical School from High School.” The book is available through Amazon. For a number of years I was also an instructor at the University of California Irvine Extension Division for their certificate program in Independent Educational Consulting.
From my base near Minneapolis, Minnesota, I provide medical school admissions counseling to students throughout the United States that are planning on attending BS/MD programs or traditional medical schools. I am a professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association(IECA), Higher Education Consultants Association(HECA) and the National Association for College Admission Counseling. I am often quoted in national media and College Admissions Counseling’s blog content has been featured by the Chicago Sun Times, Fox News, Reuters and other major websites. It is syndicated by Blogburst.
